Fundraising
Back to our Homepage - On to Friends of Youth Space
Youth Space cannot run without funds from somewhere. Whilst we make a small charge to our participants for most of our work we rely on monies from other sources to keep our building going, subsidise our work and buy some of the nicities for our space.
Current Projects
Our current small fundraising projects include;
- Friends of Youth Space - our new scheme for individuals to show a financial commitment to Youth Space weather large or small.
- This money we can then use to show a finanical commitement in any match funding based grant application.
- Not only for our weekends away but created in order to support young people whose families could not afford to send them on Circuit Youth Events for whatever reason. This fund mean we always know we can invite young peple to come with us without having to worry about finding the funding from external bodies as we often only find out about these situations at the last minute.
- Thank you to all who collected vouchers as part of the 2011 Tesco for Schools & Clubs scheme. We collected a total 1060 vouchers this year almost three times last years total.
- We are also collecting used Ink and Toner cartridges to send off for recycling (in association with RecyclingAppeal.com) for which Youth Space will be credited. So, please let us have your used Ink jet cartridges and toner units from laser printers.
- I'm afraid we cannot currently recycle Epson cartridges or Toner bottles only encased toner cartridges.
- We can however now take old mobile phones and PDAs to be melted down and have the precious/rare earth metals extracted and re-used all for funds for Youth Space.
- We have a poster to use in your church to encourage others to hand in their items for Youth Space
- Yoo Smooth is our Smoothie Bar which can be hired out to events with young people both to promote the work of Youth Space and raise some money for the work that we do.
- Contact Ian if you would like the Smoothie Bar to come to you...
Past Projects
- Monkey Buiness was our Sock Monkey selling enterprise. For Christmas 2010 just £5 would mean you could own your very own Sock Monkey loving crafted by the members of YS1.
- Youth Space members went Carol Singing on Queen Street in Cardiff during December 2010 to raise some money themselves and raise the profile of Jesus at Christmas, we sang for two hours on a Sunday afternoon and raised just over £20.
- Youth Space members went Carol Singing in December 2009 to raise some money themselves for the project. The evidence can be seen in our Photos Section.
Thank-you
We have to say thank you to;
- BT Community Connections
- BTCC have given us a grant to pay for our first year's internet connection and provided a laptop for the project to have better access to the internet and keep this website up to date.
- The individual churches of the Cardiff Methodist Circuit
- Each church was challenged to give £1 per member to help us get Youth Space off the ground.
- To date we have received £848.20 which is going to decorate Youth Space and start equipping our kitchen.
- Cardiff Methodist Circuit
- Cardiff Circuit currently underwrite our costs to get this project off the ground by paying our first years rent and bills.
