Training (for volunteers who work with young people)

Youth Space and the Circuit Youth Work Team are looking into what support and training we can offer to volunteers working with young people across the Methodist Church in Cardiff and Caerphilly.
Training is brought to you on behalf of the Youth Workers' Forum of the Methodist Church in Cardiff and Caerphilly
This years topics are;
- 26th February 2011 (Saturday)10:00 - 13:00 Safeguarding Module A(Youth Space)
- Compulsary training for all who work with Children and Young people in the Methodist Church - this session is specifically tailored for those who work with young people.
- 19th March 2011 (Saturday) 10:00 - 13:00 Facebook and You Training
- How can social networking sites and the internet help you to communicate with young people safely and efficiently.
- 21st May (Saturday) 10:00 - 16:30 Wales Nation Childrens' and Youth Work Conference (Hope Comunity Church, Newtown, Powys)
- 24th September (Saturday) 2011 10:30 - 15:30 10 ways to tell God's story (Wrexham)
The aim is to run a series of Saturday sessions (one per month) starting in February 2011. You can book yourself or your volunteers onto one or all of our sessions but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL as if we do not have enough booked on a session we will cancel and for some sessions places are strictly limited.
We are still looking at what other titles we will run and we need your suggestions. Topics could include topics such as;
- Planning a programme with young people
- First Aid
- Resourcing Sunday work with young people
We need your ideas. If you have any specific training request for your group then Rev. Susan McIvor (Minister for Youth Work) is the person to Get in Touch with.
Safeguarding (Module A) - training by Synod Safeguarding Group 
Saturday 26th February 2011 @ 10:00 - 13:00 (Youth Space)
Sorry but this session has passed... If you still need to do Safeguarding Module A please get in touch with Madoc at the Circut Office to find out when the next session near us is happening.
- Do you work as a volunteer with young people aged 11-18?
- Have you completed Safeguarding module A within the last 3 years?
- If not, then this training is for you.
Facebook and You Training - training by Ian Thomas & Mark Rowland

- How much do you "Think you know" about keeping young people safe online.
- Are you suitably informed to assist young people in practicing safer internet useage?
- A great session for anyone who needs to keep up to date with the best ways to communicate safely and effectively with young people in todays e-world.

Wales National Childrens' and Youth Work Conference
Saturday 21st May 2011 @ 10:00 - 16:30 - in Hope Community Church in Newtown, Powys

Cost £10 per adult (£5 for emerging leaders)
- A day of training, fellowship and resources for all volunteers working in Christian Youth Work from all denominations and from across Wales.

10 ways to tell God's story
Saturday 24th Sepember 2011 10:30 - 15:30 in Wrexham (Train leaves Cardiff at 07:21 returns to Cardiff at 21:17)
This event is organised by the Wales Training Network of the Methodist Church in Wales
Cost FREE - but donations to the cost of the day accepted (and you need to get yourself to Wrexham). Lunch and all materials for the day are provided.
This day is suitable for all who seek to tell God's story to others within and without the church.
