At 5.30am on Easter morning (Sunday 24th April 2011) 8 enthusiastic young people and their youth workers made their way to the top of Caerphilly Mountain to welcome the dawn and share in the peace and wonder of a new world. These young people were taking part in the, now annual, Youth Space Dawn Live event that encourages participation by young people aged 11-18 from across the Methodist Church in Cardiff and Caerphilly in the tradition of welcoming Easter day from one of South Wales' most beautiful vantage points. As the dawn chorus sprang to life around them the young people took part in the dawn service remembering the women who visited the tomb early that first Easter morning and planted seeds as signs of the new life, before the sun eventually made its way through the mist. This commitment to the celebration of the Risen Christ at the earliest opportunity has been observed for many years by members of the Methodist Church in Cardiff and Caerphilly in many varied ways and it is a pleasure to see young people involving themselves so readily in a true dawn service. Whilst the young people returned to the Church where they had stayed overnight to enjoy bacon sandwiches other members of the church made their way towards the top of the mountain for their slightly warmer and brighter sunrise service later in the morning.
