Going Somewhere

The idea was simple - during the summer holidays we wanted to do something together so we thought we'd get on a bus and go somewhere. Hence Going Somewhere was born.

Those who came had a great time sharing together for one day each week of the 6 week holidays. We may have got a little wet in places but that's all part of the fun isn't it?

So we've had our planning meeting in YS1 and then Ian was sent off to do some research and we came back with this list of titles for our going somewhere days out.

Each day will cost just £5.00 per person to join us including food and transport from Youth Space (but you may want a little tuck shop money too)

We are opening Youth Space from 10:00 for people to arrive and chillout with us but won't be heading off until around 12:00 once everyone has arrived, so you've got time to get yourself to us (remember that No 13 bus stops just outside). We will run into the evening and share a meal together finishing somewhere around 20:30 depending on what exactly we decide to do together.

Whats happening each day...

(That is assuming the weather stays nice... If it's really wet then we may end up staying in Youth Space but theres still plenty to do there.)

1. Tuesday 20th July 2010
• Beach BBQ - Ogmore by Sea
• Trip by minibus to the beach in Ogmore by sea, sand castles, beach games and ending the day with a BBQ on the seashore.
2. Wednesday 28th July 2010
• Creative Crafts - Youth Space / Canton
• A day based in and around Youth Space. Opportunities for craft related activities, some painting of our space to complete (following the marvelous work done in February Half Term) and a trip out for games in Victoria Park.
• Please bring some clothes you can get paint/mud on.
3. Friday 6th August 2010
• Boat Trip - Cardiff Bay
• After chilling out in Youth Space for a while we'll walk down to Bute Park together and catch the water taxi down to Cardiff Bay for the afternoon.
4. Thursday 12th August 2010
• Cycle Trip - Taff/Ely Trails
• Bring your bikes for today we're off for a ride.
• That's right we'll start from Youth Space with a quick bit of bike maintenance to make sure we're all roadworthy before heading off down the Taff and Ely trails. Hopefully with a picnic by the river whilst we're out.
5. Tuesday 17th August 2010
• Amelia Trust Farm
• This day is slightly different to the rest as we need to leave Youth Space in the minibus PROMPTLY at 10:00 as we have work to do when we get there.
• For our day out on the farm we are going to work for our supper helping to make the farm a beautiful place for all who visit. That's not to say we won't have fun too whilst painting fences, building paths, cutting back brambles or whatever else we're asked to do.
• Please wear comfortable clothes that you can get messy and sensible shoes that you can walk around in all day.
• You will need to bring/wear TROUSERS in order to be able to do some tasks on the farm.
• Please bring something warm for the evening as once the days work is done we will stay to see the animals and have a BBQ into the evening.
6. Wednesday 25th August 2010
   • Mountain day out - Brecon Beacons
   • A day (well afternoon then) walking in the Brecon Beacons.
   • Sturdy footwear definately required for this day out.
