Volunteer Week 2011
Back to What's On - On to see info sent before the week
Over February Half Term we held a week of work to assist in improving the beauty and accessibility of the Amelia Trust Farm for all who use it.
We had the opportunity to take part in the creation of a new raised accessible boardwalk, bird hide and viewing platforms around the wildlife pond at the Amelia Trust Farm. Young participants and adult volunteers worked together in tasks such as brush clearance, fire building, hole digging and timber installation.
Days ran from 09:45 to 15:30. Starting with a briefing outside the visitor centre and collecting our tools and some rather important water-proof layers and welly boots before heading down through the woodlands to the pond.
Work around the pond certainly was muddy and messy, with us needing to be hozed down each time we returned to the yard. Our thanks to Hedd and her team in the Visitor Centre for their fabulous lunches that filled us up and kept us fuelled all week for the work to continue.
